3D point clouds assist in managing an innovative development project in "Point Clouds to Paradise"

AL - Huntsville One of the most cutting-edge development projects to affect Palm Beach County in a generation is Avenir, and Caulfield & Wheeler, Inc., a professional civil engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture firm in Southeastern Florida, was chosen as the surveyor of record to provide all surveying services. Check out this brand-new series on drone reality surveying to see how they're utilizing the TrueView 635 Imaging Sensor and LP360 software:

Avenir is a 4,752-acre development project that includes 3,900 new homes, a resort-style clubhouse, a working farm, designated golf cart paths, large dog parks, and over 300 acres of lakes and waterways, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Caulfield and Wheeler will be busy surveying the site, providing topos, contours, and layout planning throughout this 5-year project. Additionally, they are using the TrueView 635 3D Imaging Sensor and the LP360 Drone to process, analyze, and visualize point cloud data in order to deliver their surveys in the most effective and high-quality way possible.

However, the Caulfield and Wheeler team will need to be vigilant because of a busy construction site and low-flying aircraft from a nearby airport. Check out these new episodes of Down to Earth: Point Clouds to Paradise to see how they overcome these obstacles and more. To view episode 1, click this link.

In spite of difficult circumstances, hidden risks, and bad weather, genuine surveyors gather data and turn it into actual deliverables in the reality series "Down to Earth."

The GeoCue TrueView 3D Imaging Sensor makes its debut in these episodes. All drone platforms that can support the weight can use these integrated payloads, which include sensors, dual cameras, and IMUs.

Because of the added difficulties presented by a nearby airplane pilot school, Beckwith must continuously check the airspace. He says, "We anticipate encountering low-flying aircraft from a neighboring unmanned, towerless airport here at the Avenir location.

In the second episode, Andrew and Jason make their way to the project's back area, where there are still more obstacles to overcome. They will have to deal with railroad traffic, a local highway, and more aircraft traffic to complete the study in this area. A wetland with a taller tree line and dense vegetation has replaced the landscape's active construction site, resulting in a lower visual line of sight. We'll need to pre-analyze our flight to ensure that we don't fly over public roadways, fully cover our limits, and maintain a safe mission, according to Beckwith.

The team returns to the office to process the data and produce the deliverables in LP360 in the third and final episode of Point Clouds to Paradise. According to Beckwith, "We'll be able to produce a ground surface,.las point cloud that contains millions of points across about 700 acres." It will almost certainly be much more than you could ever gather using a conventional surveying crew.
