Free AI add-on for our favorite free 3D modeling program

Free AI add-on for our favorite free 3D modeling program

Steady Diffusion, an AI art generator, is now supported by the free Stability AI add-on for Blender, a 3D modeling program.

The text-to-image converter, known as Stability for Blender, allows users to "add AI post-processing effects to renders," according to a statement from Stability AI. By using text prompts and the tool's style presets, they can play with scenarios inside the 3D software without having to constantly redesign them.

The company wants to simplify the design process and increase tool accessibility by adding stable diffusion to Blender rather than spending money on specialized hardware like high-end GPUs and graphic design laptops.

AI and copyright

But, the AI technology can potentially present a pleasant surprise for artists. By downloading the addon, designers, animators, and modelers will be able to change photos and textures on the platform.

The business claims that users may take things a step further by keyframing every property and making animations that "use Blender's built-in animation system to automate properties in Stable Diffusion." The program uses the artist's current render to build an image from a text prompt.

Stability for Blender may be able to avoid copyright infringement, which is one of the main problems facing content producers, content distributors, and AI developers.

Using rendered frames as a starting point for the diffusion process may potentially prove to be a (mostly) conclusive answer to the question "Who owns AI art?" with everyone from artists to Getty Images suing AI platforms for unauthorized use of protected assets.

Since competing AI platform OpenAI unveiled its own 3D model creator ahead of launch, many months have passed. The developer acknowledged that although its POINT-E solution "produces 3D models in about 1-2 minutes on a single GPU," it "falls short of the state-of-the-art in terms of sample quality" at this time.
