Models for 3D wireless prediction software EMF surfaces

Remcom has updated its Wireless InSite 3D prediction software to include propagation analysis for designed electromagnetic surfaces (EES). By modifying how signals travel through them, the software enables modeling of passive metasurfaces intended to improve wireless communication coverage.

The X3D Model from Wireless InSite now features an integrated ray-optical EES scattering model that offers a consistent ray description of electromagnetic wave scattering by locally periodic metasurfaces. This makes it possible to forecast ray-based EM propagation for reflections, transmissions, and diffractions that defy conventional geometrical restrictions.

By boosting the precision of MIMO device design and assessment, other new features in the update aim to enhance 5G and WiFi performance. These include direct import of multiple-frequency antenna patterns to enable broadband or multi-band analysis, receiver codebooks and enhancements to MIMO spatial multiplexing, support for multi-port S-parameters, and these.

Engineers may more accurately assess propagation channels for MIMO systems running in modified RF environments for 5G, 6G, WiFi, and ultra-wideband (UWB), including indoor or outdoor use scenarios, with the help of these combined Wireless InSite advancements.
