The Leica HDS4400 pulse scanner is a unique solution from Leica Geosystems for surveying in quarries, mine workings and where high requirements are placed on equipment operating in dusty and low ambient temperatures. Due to its properties HDS4400 compares favorably with competitors.
Long working range
The range of the Leica HDS4400 scanner (maximum range - 700 m, 150 m to coal) allows you to use it to work on large sites. At the same time, the scanner measures at a speed of 4,400 points per second, allowing you to quickly work in the field.
Simple control
Intuitive scanner management software makes shooting quick and easy. A rugged tablet computer with the software installed is already included with the scanner.
Wide temperature range of the scanner
The operating temperature range of the HDS4400 scanner is from -40°С to +50°С. Thanks to the use of special built-in heating batteries, the Leica HDS4400 scanner can operate at extremely low temperatures. This allows you to shoot at any time of the year.
Built-in camera
The built-in digital camera allows you to get high quality photographs of the area. Based on the obtained photographic information, it is possible to accurately set the boundaries of the survey and subsequently analyze the scanned excavation space and superimpose photographic images on surface models. There is no need to use an external camera, calibrate it and then link the photo to the point cloud in the software.
Large range of field of view
The field of view of the Leica HDS4400 scanner is 80° vertically and 360° horizontally, which is quite enough to perform areal surveys, which are the main type of work in mine surveying.
Integrated 2-axis tilt compensator
It is used to set the scanner in a vertical position and track this position during the shooting process. The compensator has a resolution of 20” and allows:
Install the scanner above the justification point using the known station method;
Lay a tacheometric move, perform a straight line, resection;
Sight using the built-in optics on the reflector.
Scan Accuracy
Scanning accuracy (20 mm at a distance of up to 50 m; 50 mm at a maximum range of 700 m) allows you to obtain models of the earth's surface with sufficient accuracy, control the volume of excavation and transportation of raw materials, perform geological mapping and topographic survey of quarries, mine workings, warehouses of bulk materials etc...
Dedicated software for processing scan data
The I-Site Studio software is specially designed for mining and surveying and comes with the scanner. It is not burdened with unnecessary functions not used in this area.

- three-dimensional display of survey data;
- presentation of data in real colors and intensity gradations;
- registration (merging) of scans;
- analysis of point clouds registration accuracy;
