Platform for leveling a 3D laser scanner, installation on a vehicle or telescopic mast, suitable for terrain surveying
Do you want to quickly and easily measure facades, streets or topography? Then benefit from the leveling platform. With this platform you can mount your 3D laser scanner on the roof rack of a vehicle and use it for terrestrial surveying. Level the platform at the push of a button so that even steep inclines in the terrain do not affect the recordings.
The leveling platform is used in combination with a 3D laser scanner, a reference sphere and two GPS systems. The platform is used to automatically align the laser scanner horizontally using electric motors. The position of the laser sensor is determined with the help of the GPS receiver.
Simply park the vehicle at the locations that will serve as scanning positions, level the measuring system and scan the surroundings. Continue in this way for all other scanning positions. This allows you to easily capture large areas in a short time.
Measuring principle:
The leveling platform is used in combination with a 3D laser scanner, two GPS receivers to determine the scanner position, a support rod or magnetic holder and a reference sphere.
Mount the leveling platform on the vehicle roof. You attach the reference sphere to the trailer hitch with the support rod or on the bonnet of your vehicle with the magnetic holder. You must manually adjust the height of the support rod or magnet holder so that it forms a horizontal surface. Then attach a 3D laser scanner to the platform. Place a GPS receiver on the laser scanner; mount the other GPS receiver on the reference sphere. Now you can start scanning.
Drive from one scan position to another. At each scan position you have to stop the vehicle and level the leveling platform with the laser scanner at the push of a button. You can then scan the environment as usual. You don't have to mark any destinations.
During the scanning process, the position of the scanner is determined using the two GPS receivers. The GPS receiver on the reference sphere serves to orientate the scans. As a result, you get a representation of reality in a single three-dimensional reference system in your software.
